The ships were built at the Samsung Heavy Industries shipyard in Geoje ( South Korea ) and delivered from 2001. Two ships of the class, the Cap Trafalgar and the Cap Spencer , have been sailing for the Military Sealift Command of the US Navy since 2015 and 2016 respectively , where they replaced the American ships of the same name as Ltc John UD Page and SSG Edward A. Carter Jr. - New York class .
