Cape Spirit is the eastern cape of Black Island in the Antarctic Ross Archipelago off the east coast of Victoria Land . The cape marks the western boundary of the northern entrance to White Strait .
Participants of the 1958-1959 campaign as part of the New Zealand Geological Survey Antarctic Expedition made the name. It is named after the constant and violent ( English spirited ) winds in the strait between Black Island and the neighboring island of White Island .
