Champvert is located about 25 kilometers northeast of Moulins on the Canal du Nivernais and the Aron . Champvert is surrounded by the neighboring municipalities of Thianges in the north, Diennes-Aubigny in the northeast, Verneuil in the east, Charrin in the southeast, Devay in the south, Decize in the west and southwest, Saint-Léger-des-Vignes in the west and La Machine in the northwest.
