Pougues-les-Eaux is a commune with 2,388 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Nièvre in the region of Bourgogne Franche-Comté . The municipality belongs to the arrondissement of Nevers and the canton of Varennes-Vauzelles (until 2015: canton of Pougues-les-Eaux ).

Pougues-les-Eaux is located in central France in the Loire Valley . The place is best known for its healing mineral springs. Pougues-les-Eaux is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Chaulgnes in the north, Parigny-les-Vaux in the east and northeast, Varennes-Vauzelles in the east and southeast, Garchizy in the south and Germigny-sur-Loire in the west.
The A77 autoroute and the former Route nationale 7 (today's D907) run through the municipality .
Since 1861, the municipality has a stop at the railway Moret-Veneux-les-Sablons-Lyon-Perrache which trains of TER Bourgogne Franche-Comté the connection Cosne-sur-Loire - Nevers is operated.
