Tresnay is a French municipality with 148 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Nièvre in the region of Bourgogne Franche-Comté (before 2016 Bourgogne ). It belongs to the Arrondissement of Nevers and the canton of Saint-Pierre-le-Moûtier (until 2015 Dornes ).

Tresnay is located about 34 kilometers south-southeast of Nevers am Allier . Tresnay is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Chantenay-Saint-Imbert in the north, Toury-sur-Jour in the east and northeast, Villeneuve-sur-Allier in the east and southeast and Aubigny in the south and west.
The National Route 7 runs through the municipality .
