Montigny-aux-Amognes is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Vaux d'Amognes in the north, Saint-Sulpice in the east and northeast, Saint-Jean-aux-Amognes in the east and southeast, Sauvigny-les-Bois in the south, and Saint-Éloi in the south and south-west, Coulanges-lès-Nevers to the west and south-west and Saint-Martin-d'Heuille to the west and north-west.
