Montigny-aux-Amognes is a commune with 618 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Nièvre in the region of Bourgogne Franche-Comté (before 2016 Bourgogne ). The municipality belongs to the arrondissement of Nevers and the canton of Guérigny (until 2015 Saint-Benin-d'Azy ).

Montigny-aux-Amognes is located about nine kilometers east-northeast of Nevers in central France . Montigny-aux-Amognes is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Vaux d'Amognes in the north, Saint-Sulpice in the east and northeast, Saint-Jean-aux-Amognes in the east and southeast, Sauvigny-les-Bois in the south, and Saint-Éloi in the south and south-west, Coulanges-lès-Nevers to the west and south-west and Saint-Martin-d'Heuille to the west and north-west.
