Guérigny is a commune with 2,514 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Nièvre in the region of Bourgogne Franche-Comté . The municipality belongs to the Arrondissement of Nevers and is the main town ( chef-lieu ) of the canton of Guérigny .

geography

Guérigny is located about 20 kilometers north of Nevers on the Nièvre River , into which the Nièvre d'Arzembouy flows here. Guérigny is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Saint-Aubin-les-Forges in the north, Poiseux in the northeast, Balleray in the east, Urzy in the south and Parigny-les-Vaux in the west.

The former route nationale 77 (today's D977) runs through the municipality .
