Capela dos Mouros

The Anta Capela dos Mouros ( German  "Chapel of the Moors" ) is located in the village of Arcas, in the Talhadas municipality in the Concelho Sever do Vouga , in the Aveiro district , in the Centro region , in Portugal . A plant of the same name is located in Galicia .

It is the archaeological remnant of a dolmen (not an anta ) with a rectangular chamber. Anta is the Portuguese name for around 5000 megalithic structures or dolmens, which were built during the Neolithic in the west of the Iberian Peninsula by the successors of the cardial or imprint culture . The chamber measures only about 1.6 mx 0.8 m. It consists of two in situ bearing stones in the north and south and a capstone. More stones are nearby. The facility is located in a largely preserved hill with a diameter of around 5.0 m with the remains of an enclosure. No traces of an access corridor were found.
