History and sights

Finds prove a prehistoric settlement. To be mentioned are the Anta of the Capela dos Mouros in the village of Arcas and the listed megalithic complex Chão de Redondo . The Romans settled in the area in the first century AD . A Roman road crossed today's community, long pieces are still preserved here and are now a listed building.
