Capey (real name Caspar Friedrich ; born March 19, 1988 in East Berlin ) also called Capey Cash , is a German musician and producer.

His song There was a Bar opened the Emporio Armani Fall / Winter Collection on January 12, 2014 at the Milan Fashion Week .

Life

Capey was born as the son of a landlord and an art teacher in the Charité hospital in Berlin . He grew up on Oranienburger Strasse in Berlin Mitte and lived there until 2005.

He processed the impressions he had there in 2006 in his song Oranienburger Stra $$ e and in 2014 in his musical book project Fucking Oranienburgerstrasse I Love You . There he wrote the lyrics for his first solo album in 2006, Unter dem Grund , which he published himself.

In 2007 he said he moved to the Berlin district of Wedding . There was his second solo album Groove Classics , which he released under the pseudonym Bassbusiness on the independent label Jonni Botten . With the song Killa Gorilla contained on the album , he made it into the playlist of the radio station Radio Fritz for the first time .

From 2008 to 2010 he lived in London to continue his musical education.

In 2010 he started to work in Bar25 in Berlin and later processed the experiences in the song There was a Bar . The song was released on vinyl and digitally in November 2010 on the Bar25 label. Furthermore, There was a Bar was used as a film soundtrack in the movie Days outside of time in 2012 , which means that several radio stations such as Radio Eins , Deutschlandradio Kultur or Radio Fritz added it to their playlists. The TV station PRO 7 also played the song several times as background music on the Galileo program .

From 2010 to 2012 Capey played various concerts as a DJ or singer in Berlin clubs such as Lido , Kater Holzig , MIKZ or Wilde Renate . From 2011 to 2014 he hosted his own party series Redlights in the bar Mein Haus am See in Berlin Mitte .

In January 2014, Capey was the official soundtrack of the Milan Fashion Week for Emporio Armani with There was a Bar . In March 2014 his third studio album Fucking Oranienburgerstrasse I love You was released . The album CD was embedded in a comic booklet with a slipcase and could therefore also be sold in various bookshops such as Grober Unfug or Büchergilde Gutenberg . Sales were also achieved at art fairs such as ART Brandenburg or Artbookberlin .

On March 1, 2014, Capey was a guest on Radio Fritz's Caroma Club program to talk about the gentrification of Berlin and his book project. In November 2014 he published the art book Der Taucher based on a ballad by Friedrich von Schiller together with Matthias Friedrich Muecke, for which Capey produced the radio play CD. The book made it onto the longlist of the German Audiobook Prize 2015 and the shortlist of the Förderpreis für Junge Buchgestaltung 2014. His current album Ostberlin Techno Story was released on December 1, 2016. This was followed by various appearances as a DJ and musician across Germany. a. in Berlin, Halle, Bamberg and Leipzig. Since November 2018 he has been artistically active for the film production company UFA Fiction .
