Cappenberg Forest

The Cappenberger Wald is a forest in North Rhine-Westphalia . It extends in the southwest of the Lipper heights between Lünen in the south and south of Südkirchen in the north and between Bork in the west and Werne in the east. The oaks in the Cappenberg Forest were systematically cut down in the middle of the 19th century, as the Cappenberg Forest was supposed to become a pure beech forest. From 1911 it was agreed that precious woods should also be planted in the Cappenberg Forest. Today 4% of the forest is still made of fine wood, from 1912 to 1930 it was 44%.
