The Lipper Heights are an open, cultivated, hilly landscape in the south of the Münsterland and in the north-east of the Ruhr area, adjoining the Middle Lippetal to the north of the Lippe . The landscape is naturally part of the Kernmünsterland . In the maximum 117 m high, in west-east direction up to 35 km wide and around 234 km² large landscape, there are forest areas, but agricultural use is predominant.
Location and limits
The Lipper Heights extend from Olfen ( Coesfeld district ) in the west to Ahlen ( Warendorf district ) in the east. In the south, the ridge is bounded by the Lippe near Lünen , Werne (both Unna district ) and Hamm , to the north it extends to Nordkirchen (Coesfeld district, west north) and Drensteinfurt - Walstedde (Warendorf district, east north).
To the south of the Lippe, the Lipper Heights face the 100 m high Kamen hill country in the north-west of the Hellwegbörden .
The heights between Lippe and Stever run out to the west . In the south-east of the Westmünsterland , beyond the Lippe in the south-west, the up to 154 m high Haard joins, beyond the Stever in the north-west the up to 133 m high Borkenberge .

The up to 112 m high Cappenberger heights around Selm- Cappenberg, together with the castle and forest, lie north of the Lippe near Lünen and stretch north-west to Selm , in a narrower ridge even to Olfen .
To the northeast, north of the Lippe between Werne and Hamm and to the north as far as Ascheberg - Herbern and Drensteinfurt - Walstedde , there is the up to 117 m high Werner mountain and hill country .
To the north, the Cappenberger heights merge into the flat, undulating Südkirchen hill country around Nordkirchen - Südkirchen .
