Captain Sperrmüll was a German-speaking rock band from Saarland , which began in the anarcho / spontaneous scene.

history

After the young singer-songwriter Didi Conrath (1957–2019) had stayed in Berlin for a few years , he formed a band in his home region that settled in Saarwellingen as a household in the late 1970s . Characterized by bands such as Ton Steine Scherben and contemporary Krautrock , socially critical texts were set to music in the collective, while alternative ways of life were tried out at the same time.

The group released two vinyl albums in the early 1980s and toured Germany. There were frequent appearances in youth centers or “ free and outside festivals”. Over the years around 40 musicians played in a collective, only Didi Conrath remained constant as front man and songwriter.

In the 2000s, Conrath moved to Landau in the Palatinate , where he worked as a primary school teacher after completing his studies. Here he once again formed smaller lineups in his band. Weakened by pancreatic cancer , he still played solo appearances with sperm garbage songs. Conrath died on January 5, 2019.
