The Cariboo River is a right tributary of the Quesnel River in the Cariboo Regional District in the Canadian province of British Columbia .

The Cariboo River has its source in the Cariboo Mountains in the southeast of Bowron Lake Provincial Park . It is fed by a glacier area northwest of Mount Lunn . Initially it flows in a westerly direction through the mountains. It picks up the Isaac River , which flows through Isaac Lake , from the right. The Cariboo River then flows through Lanezi Lake and Sandy Lake . After that, the river changes course to the south and takes on the Matthew River from the left and flows through the small Kimball Lake . The subsequent section of the river is located in the Cariboo River Provincial Park . The Cariboo River meets the eastern end of Cariboo Lake , which it leaves again at its western end. The Spanish Creek flows to him from the left. Shortly afterwards the Cariboo River flows into the Quesnel River at Quesnel Forks . The Cariboo River has a length of about 140 km.
Hydrology
The Cariboo River drains an area of 3260 km². The mean discharge is 95.7 m³ / s. Between May and July the river carries the largest amounts of water.
