The Caribou River is a tributary of Hudson Bay in Division No. 23 in the northeast of the Canadian province of Manitoba .

The Caribou River forms the outlet of Commonwealth Lake about 10 km south of the Nunavut border . It initially flows in an easterly direction through the Canadian Shield and takes on the Roberts River coming from the west . It then flows through the lakes Pollon Lake , Baroni Lake and Round Sand Lake , then turns south and flows through the other lakes Gagnon Lake and Rink Lake . It takes the Cameron River on the right, turns to the southeast and flows into the west end of Caribou Lake . The river continues to flow mainly in an easterly direction. It flows through Long Lake and flows south of the headland Hubbart Point 70 km north-northwest of the city of Churchill in the Hudson Bay. The Caribou River has a length of approximately 230 km. There are numerous rapids along the river, including the Richardson Rapids , Burch Rapids, and Mink Rapids below Caribou Lake . The river system of the Caribou River is still largely free of human interference. The 7,640 km² Caribou River Provincial Wilderness Park extends over the catchment area above Caribou Lake.
