Carine Roitfeld (born September 19, 1954 in Paris ) was editor-in-chief of the French magazine Vogue from 2001 to 2011 . In 2012 she became editor-in-chief of the CR Fashion Books magazine, which she founded.

Origin and childhood

Carine Roitfeld was born in Paris on September 19, 1954. Her father, Jacques Roitfeld (1889–1999), was Russian and initially worked in Berlin, but later settled in Paris, where he met his future wife. Her mother describes Carine Roitfeld as a very classic Parisian and her father describes her as an idol and describes him as very chic and eager to go out. She sees her childhood, which she spent in the 16th arrondissement of Paris , as very bourgeois and pleasant.

Professional background

Roitfeld started modeling at the age of 18. She later became a stylist for Elle magazine . She caused a stir with her campaigns for the Gucci fashion house . In 2001 she became editor-in-chief of French Vogue. According to her own statements, she invented the style of "erotic porno fate" for them. In her current magazine, CR Fashion Books, she aims for intellectual and humorous accents. In addition, Roitfeld is currently responsible for all editions of Harper's Bazaar as fashion editor .

Personal

Carine Roitfeld has two children and a grandchild and lives in Paris. She is considered a style icon with her own choice of clothes.
