Carl-Friedrich Zimpel

Carl-Friedrich Zimpel (* 11. December 1801 in Sprottau , Lower Silesia ; † 26. June 1879 in Pozzuoli , Campania ), also known by the name of Charles Franz Zimpel was a Prussian infantry - officer , railway engineers and healers without medical training, became known due to his development of the Zimpelschen healing system of spagyric . He was also a supporter of John Wroe , founder of the Christian Israelite Church .

biography

Zimpel first became an officer, but then worked for various railway administrations and companies in Germany and abroad and received American citizenship. Of course he spoke and wrote not only the English but also the French language. There are many works by him in French in the French National Library. He died on June 26, 1879 in a hotel in Pozzuoli (southern Italy).

Zimpels promotion

Zimpel attended several lectures at the University of Jena as a guest auditor . He subsequently succeeded in becoming a Dr. phil. and Dr. med. to do a doctorate without ever having studied medicine. The philosophy faculty accepted a work on US railroad construction published nine years earlier as a dissertation. A special permit from the State Department allowed the medical school in 1849 to complete Zimpel's doctorate thanks to a 56-page thesis on his own experience with yellow fever during his stay in Louisiana, USA. In Louisiana, he had helped to build a new railway line through a swamp, which caused yellow fever infections among workers. He justified Zimpel's wish for a doctorate, among other things, with the fact that the academic title was an advantage when traveling to oriental countries . Contrary to what various internet sources claim, Zimpel was never a doctor and never had a license to practice medicine or a medical qualification. Zimpel received his doctorate on the condition that he would never work medically in Germany, which is why he relocated his institute to Italy, where he was only allowed to treat foreigners for legal reasons. He circumvented this requirement by leaving the rights to manufacture his remedies to Friedrich Mauch , a pharmacist from Göppingen who manufactured, advertised and sold the remedies.

The "Zimpelsche healing system" of spagyric

Zimpel was considered a supporter of homeopathy . However, he was looking for a universal remedy to cure all diseases and to prolong life, which should be more effective than medicine or homeopathy of the time. In his ideas about his universal remedies, he followed old alchemical concepts. In 1866 he met the Italian Count Cesare Mattei , whose products he tried to fathom and copy. According to Zimpel, extracts of plant origin were created via alchemical manufacturing processes, which were the starting point of Zimpel's spagyric system. Today's procedures "spag. Zimpel", as presented in the Homeopathic Pharmacopoeia (HAB), do not go back to Zimpel. In contrast to the original regulations handed down, these are distillates in which the ash salt from the press residue of the plants used is dissolved. Active ingredients like those found in the products after the original Zimpel process are no longer contained.

Neither for the original Zimpel preparations, nor for today's medicines, which are manufactured using different processes, but misleadingly with the abbreviation "spag. Zimpel." are designated, conclusive proof of effectiveness could be provided. Nevertheless, these agents all enjoy a certain popularity, which led to the establishment of a pharmaceutical company created for this after Zimpel's death. This was the chemical-pharmaceutical factory Müller Göppingen , from which in 1956 today's homeopathic and spagyric-producing Staufen-Pharma and the sister company Müller Göppingen emerged.

About 40 books by Zimpel between 1828 and 1879 can be traced, about half of which have theological content.
