The Carl Zeiss Oberschule (short: CZO ; also: Carl Zeiss School ) is an integrated secondary school with an upper level . It is located in the Lichtenrade district in the Tempelhof-Schöneberg district of Berlin .

It is a UNESCO project school and is considered a model school for “educational school development”. Through the Socrates / Comenius project, she is involved in many international activities and carries out many projects and excursions in this context.

New building

In autumn 2006, the entire school (both middle and high school) was housed in a new three-storey building (originally four storeys were planned), which offers enough space for the more than 1000 students. The new school building, which costs around 16.5 million euros, replaces the single-storey replacement buildings in which teaching has been carried out for over 15 years. A competition was announced for the design, which the architects KSP Engel und Zimmermann won. Construction management was the responsibility of Gustav Epple Bauunternehmung GmbH. The replacement buildings were erected from the outset within three months as a temporary solution when the original school building was demolished in 1988 due to asbestos exposure . The upper level buildings, which were vacant after the move, will be used by the nearby Georg Büchner High School in the future . The other replacement buildings were demolished except for one, the original sports facilities and the school garden are to be rebuilt on the square. In 2007, the rooms of the barracks that had stood still were partly used for the lessons of the students of the Georg Büchner High School . However, this has not been possible since the end of April, as an arson attack was carried out on the building's former conference room at night.
