Carl Adolph Ferdinand Heidorn , also Karl , Adolf Heidorn (born May 11, 1823 in Celle ; † March 24, 1893 in Lübeck ) was a German tin caster . He was the last tin caster in Lübeck.

Life

From 1837 Carl Adolph Ferdinand Heidorn learned the tin foundry trade from Gottfried Jacob Schröder in Celle. In 1841 he became a journeyman and went on the prescribed hike , which led him to Lüneburg and Hamburg , among other places . Before 1852 he came to Lübeck; Here he took the oath of citizenship on January 25, 1852, was accepted as a master craftsman and took over the long-established workshop of the late Diedrich Hinrich Tiedemann (1806–1850) located on the market (then market 258; new number 11), which he had already owned by his father Hinrich Tiedemann (1741-1812) had taken over.

According to an advertisement in the Lübeck address book from 1854, Heidorn made surgical syringes, pewter taps (taps), tea pots and cream pots ( creamer ) from Britannia metal and pewter toys. Traditionally, coffin fittings were also part of his range. His large-format tin soldiers with a size of approx. 60 mm, representing dragoons , hussars and Lübeck citizen militaries, as well as knights and various soldiers with a size of approx. 40 mm, he made in shapes that were made by others, such as his journeyman from Nuremberg Andreas Besold were engraved.

In 1855 he moved his workshop and apartment to Holstenstrasse 179. In 1863 he took part in the Lübeck trade exhibition. He was also the head of the Petrikirche .

In 1885 he moved his workshop again to Johannisstrasse, today's Dr.-Julius-Leber-Strasse , before retiring in 1890. With him, the tin foundry trade in Lübeck died out.

In 1897 his molds, a total of 78 pieces, came to the Lübeck Museum. Today they are in the depot of the St. Anne's Museum .
