Carl Arthur Pastor (born July 24, 1885 in Burtscheid , † September 23, 1960 in Aachen ) was a German banker and insurance company.

Coming from the entrepreneurial family Pastor , the son of the needle manufacturer (Philipp Heinrich) graduated from Arthur Pastor (1856–1931) and Maria Kesselkaul (1861–1940) as well as the grandson of the Prussian Kommerzienrat Rudolf Arthur Pastor in 1904 at the former Kaiser-Wilhelm-Gymnasium, the today's Einhardgymnasium in Aachen, his Abitur. He then studied law at the universities of Oxford, Heidelberg and Bonn. In 1910, Pastor took up a position as a trainee lawyer and in 1913 received his doctorate as Dr. jur. from. He had been a member of the Corps Guestphalia Heidelberg since 1906 .

The following years of his activity as assessor were interrupted by his assignment in the First World War, during the course of which Pastor was deployed first in the service of the Red Cross , later in a replacement infantry formation and finally in the civil administration service in Belgium.

In 1920 Pastor applied to be dismissed from the civil service and switched to private banking. Here he quickly went through the next stages of his professional career and finally took on the position of bank director, first in Mannheim, then in Berlin and finally at Dresdner Bank in Aachen. In addition, Pastor was a member of the supervisory boards of many well-known companies in the business world and temporarily held seven supervisory board chairs and five deputy chairs. Among other things, he headed the supervisory boards of AachenMünchener , the former Aachener and Fortuna-Rückversicherung as well as the former Nordstern , Turingia and Oldenburgische-Lebensversicherungs AG. As deputy chairman, Pastor was a member of the Supervisory Board of Dresdner Bank as well as of its successor organization, Rhein-Ruhr-Bank AG, from 1952.

In the tradition of the old ties between AachenMünchener Versicherung and RWTH Aachen , which Pastor also cultivated intensively - the AachenMünchener made it possible, among other things, to build the Polytechnic in 1865 through the Aachen Association for the Promotion of Labor as a cash administrator - he stipulated in his will that after his Death a large part of his fortune would be available for charitable purposes and would flow into the Carl Arthur Pastor Foundation to be established. Since then, the Carl Arthur Pastor Scholarships and the Aachen and Munich Prize for Technology and Applied Natural Sciences have been awarded from this foundation .

In recognition of his great services to the internal and external structure of the university, Carl Arthur Pastor was made an honorary citizen in 1950 and, among other reasons, in 1959, as part of the 125th anniversary of the founding of the Aachen and Munich fire insurance company and the 80th anniversary of the university appointed honorary senator of the TH for his care for the social institutions of the student body .

In addition to his numerous professional and social commitments, Pastor was both active himself and as a functionary very much inclined to sport, especially tennis, hockey and golf. Pastor was one of the first members of the Aachener Golfclub 1927 eV, headed this club from 1933 until his death in 1960 as president and was also appointed honorary president.

Carl Arthur Pastor was married to Hedwig Röchling (1885–1969), a daughter of the Ludwigshafen entrepreneur August Röchling . He was buried in the grave of the Pastor family at the Heissbergfriedhof Burtscheid / Aachen .
