Rudolf Arthur Pastor

Rudolf Arthur Pastor (born November 4, 1828 in Burtscheid , † November 14, 1892 in Aachen ) was a German needle manufacturer and royal Prussian councilor of commerce .

The son of the cloth and needle manufacturer Philipp Heinrich Pastor (1787–1844) and Johanna Wilhelmine Henriette Lindgens (1799–1876) completed a commercial apprenticeship after finishing school, including a two-year study visit to Spain.

Then he and his brother Peter Heinrich Gotthard Pastor (1826-1892) took over their father's needle factory in Burtscheid, which from then on operated under the name of Philipp Heinrich, Pastors Sons . After his brother left the business and moved to New York City , where he founded the import-export company Pastor & Hardt , Rudolf Arthur Pastor became the sole owner of the Burtscheider company and also took part in his American business Brother.

With his commitment, he consistently continued the upswing in needle manufacture that had already started under his father in Aachen. In addition, he made a special contribution to Burtscheid's concerns, was appointed deputy justice of the peace and several times as an alderman and city councilor as well as district deputy of the district of Aachen and was elected to the provincial council of the Rhine province .

Rudolf Arthur Pastor was married to Emilie Adolfine Maria Kannengießer (1827–1902), daughter of the carpet manufacturer Heinrich Joseph Kannengießer, with whom he had four sons. His son Philipp Heinrich Arthur Pastor (1856–1931) took over the needle factory "Philipp Heinrich, Pastors Sons" and transferred it in 1917 to the Rheinische Nadelfabrik AG, which was an amalgamation of twenty needle factories inside and outside Aachen, from which eventually Rhein-Nadel Automation GmbH emerged in 1955 . His son Carl Arthur Pastor (1885–1960), court assessor and bank director, chairman of the supervisory board of AachenMünchner, was made an honorary senator and honorary citizen of RWTH Aachen University. The Carl Arthur Pastor Foundation goes back to him .

Another son of Rudolf Arthur, Karl Theodor von Pastor (1857-1919), was first appointed district administrator of the Malmedy district from 1893 to 1899 and then of the Aachen district, was a member of the Rhenish provincial council from 1901 to 1918 and was hereditary in 1907 Nobility raised.

A third son, Wilhelm Emil Pastor (1865–1925), acquired a partnership in the cloth factories C. Nellessen, JM Sohn and JH Kesselkaul , became a government assessor and was chairman of the Aachen cloth manufacturers' association for many years.

Like his children, Rudolf Arthur Pastor found his final resting place in the family crypt on the Heissbergfriedhof in Burtscheid.
