Carl Arthur Pastor Foundation
The Dr. Carl Arthur Pastor Foundation is a non-profit foundation under private law based in Aachen . It has existed since 1962. Its aim is to promote particularly talented trainees and students as well as to support engineering achievements, especially in the humanitarian field.
Like the Friedrich Wilhelm Foundation , which has existed for more than 150 years and is still established by the Aachener Feuerversicherungsgesellschaft, it belongs to the 16 best diploma or master’s theses, 15 best dissertations and the two best habilitation theses with up to 2,500 euros each be subsidized - to the funding of the future fund of Generali Germany and is registered in the foundation directory NRW.
history
The foundation goes back to a will from Carl Arthur Pastor (1885–1960), a grandson of the Kgl. prussia. Kommerzienrat Rudolf Arthur Pastor and great-grandson of the President of the Chamber of Commerce Philipp Heinrich Pastor . Carl Arthur Pastor arranged that after his death a large part of his fortune should be available for charitable purposes. The former court assessor and bank director as well as honorary senator and honorary citizen of the RWTH Aachen was chairman of the supervisory board of the Aachener und Münchener Versicherungs-Gesellschaft, a predecessor organization of the AachenMünchener -Versicherungs-AG and today's Generali Deutschland Holding AG, which is also the trustee of the foundation. This scholarship foundation, together with the German Association for Insurance Science e. V. particularly talented trainees in the insurance industry, but also students, mainly from the Eastern Bloc, in master's courses at the RWTH Aachen University . The scholarships are intended to give talented young academics the opportunity to devote themselves exclusively to their studies as early as possible. They amount to a monthly amount of 750 euros in addition to the reimbursement of the applicable semester fees and are valid for a period of one year.
Aachen and Munich Prize for Technology and Applied Natural Sciences
The prize for achievements in the field of technology and applied natural sciences was awarded annually from 1975 to 2005 and was endowed with up to 30,000 euros. In particular, the foundation paid tribute to achievements of outstanding humanitarian or civilizational importance. It was donated by Aachener und Münchener Versicherung AG.

The management board consists of the chairman of the supervisory board and the chairman of the management board of the insurance group Generali Germany . Both are volunteers.
The board of directors has appointed a board of trustees consisting of three professors from RWTH Aachen University and three professors from Technical University of Munich to select the winners . The founder has no influence on the nomination of the award winners.
