Carl Arvid von Klingspor (born March 30, 1829 in Säby , Aspö municipality , Södermanland ; † June 15, 1903 in Näsby , Bogsta municipality , Södermanland) was a royal Swedish officer, imperial heraldist and genealogist .

Life

Carl Arvid was a member of the branching noble family Klingspor . His parents were the royal Swedish lieutenant colonel Carl Gustaf Klingspor (1786–1833) and Countess Maria Aurora Johanna Posse (1807–1878). He married Hedvig Ulrika Vilhelmina Lilliestråle (1837-1917) in Aspö on October 21, 1857, the marriage remained childless.

He began his military career on February 13, 1843 when he joined the Swedish army, as a cadet in the war school in Karlberg . On February 6, 1850 lieutenant with the Dragoons of the Leibregiment, advanced to 2nd Rittmeister on January 26, 1864 and finally on March 1, 1864 squadron captain. He took his leave on May 6, 1881 with the rank of major.

From 1871 to 1893 Klingspor was editor of the magazine of the Upplands Archaeological Association (Upplands fornminnesförenings) and since 1880 Royal Swedish Imperial Heraldist. In 1883 he was raised to the baron rank .
