Carl August Hube

Carl August Hube (born February 6, 1809 in Thorn ; † 1893 ) was a German lithographer and drawing teacher.

Life

Hube attended high school in his hometown and then worked as a lithographer at the Greifswald university print shop. He continued his private education and from New Year 1849 worked as an interim drawing teacher at the grammar school in Greifswald. On August 28, 1850, Hube passed his exam at the Royal Academy of the Arts in Berlin and was declared "capable and worthy of being able to use drawing lessons in higher middle schools and grammar schools". On October 31, 1850 he was confirmed by the school authorities as the successor to Anton Heinrich Gladrow in his office.

Hube published several articles in Troschel's monthly sheets for the art of drawing and drawing lessons . He worked with Friedrich von Hagenow and illustrated a historical city map of Greifswald. In the Greifswald city archive there are lithographs from Hubes from 1834, e.g. B. from the Nikolaikirche , the box at the Mühlentor, the university building and the Ryck with salt works and barges.
