Carl August von Seckendorf
Carl August Freiherr von Seckendorf (often also Seckendorff ; born April 27, 1774 at Burleswagen Castle , † March 5, 1828 in Munich ) was a German administrative lawyer and senior consistorial president of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Bavaria .
Life
Seckendorf, offspring of the Seckendorf family , was appointed assessor at the Reich Chamber of Commerce in Wetzlar in 1800 . After its dissolution, he entered the Bavarian service in 1806 and in 1807 took the position of vice-president at the Bamberg court . When this court was converted into a court of appeal for the Mainkreis in 1808 , he was promoted to president of the court.
Seckendorf was appointed to the Bavarian State Council in 1817 with the title Real Council of State and employed in the field of justice . In the following year, 1818, he also received the office of senior consistory president of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Bavaria. He was the first to hold this position in Bavaria. This position corresponds to that of the regional bishop today. At the same time he also became a member of the Bavarian Reichsrat . His term of office was shaped by bringing the growing Evangelical Church to the fore politically. Until the government reshuffle in 1822, he remained a State Councilor in the ordinary course. He then remained in extraordinary service as a State Councilor.
Seckendorf was honored with the Grand Cross of the Civil Merit Order of the Bavarian Crown in 1812 .
