Karl Hermann August Emil Bronner , also often Karl Bronner , (born May 16, 1857 in Stuttgart , † October 26, 1936 in Mainz ) was a German architect , building researcher , painter and graphic artist . His main job was as a drawing teacher at the Oberrealschule and the Realgymnasium in Mainz. For a while he was involved as a draftsman of plans and perspectives in the inventory of the Hessian art monuments .

life and work

Bronner studied architecture at the Technical University of Stuttgart. First he worked in Friedberg (Hessen), where he married Wilhelmine Marie Lina Windecker on October 12, 1892. In 1894 he moved to Mainz. Bronner painted around 100 watercolors from the old town of Mainz . As an architect, Bronner apparently did not build much, only the Protestant church in Kostheim and the building at Heidesheimer Str. 58 in Mainz-Gonsenheim in 1890 are known. The main focus of his work was the restoration of churches in the Rhine-Hessian area and wall paintings, which he discovered and exposed. In addition, for the inventory of the Hessian monuments, he produced building recordings of the restored churches that were burned in the monument archive in Darmstadt Castle in 1944 during the war
