Carl Ernst Laue

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Carl Ernst Laue (* 1790 in Neubrandenburg , Mecklenburg-Strelitz ; † 1860 in Neustrelitz , Mecklenburg-Strelitz) was a German court musician and instrument maker in Neustrelitz.

Live and act

Laue was first mentioned in 1818 as a court musician and music writer in Neustrelitz. He lived with his wife Margarethe at Strelitzer Straße 28. There they also offered a pension for foreign students, such as the later famous archaeologist Heinrich Schliemann from 1833 to 1836.

Carl Ernst Laue bought small organs from the Holland workshop in Schmiedefeld in Thuringia and built them in the Neustrelitz area, for example in Mollenstorf in 1843 (with Heinrich Laue?). This is the only one of these organs to survive. An offer for Badresch from 1846 was not accepted there.

In 1859 Laue bought a house at Tiergartenstrasse 10 (today 17), in which his widow lived until her death in 1889. The son Heinrich Laue (1827–1868) became a musician and later also lived as a music teacher in St. Petersburg.
