Carl Frank (Orientalist)

Carl Frank (born February 7, 1881 in Nuremberg , † November 2, 1945 in Marburg ) was a German ancient orientalist .

Life

After receiving his doctorate in 1905 as a Dr. phil. at the University of Leipzig in oriental philology and history and his habilitation at the University of Strasbourg 1910 in oriental studies, especially Assyriology, he was from 1916 to 1918 associate professor at the University of Strasbourg. He was then an associate professor at the University of Berlin and from 1937 professor of Assyriology and director of the Oriental and Indo-European seminar at the University of Marburg .
