Carl Georg Schwing

Carl Georg Schwing (born October 7, 1778 in Stralsund ; † May 8, 1858 ibid) was a German lawyer and mayor of Stralsund.

Life

Carl Georg Schwing was admitted to the High Tribunal in Greifswald as a lawyer in 1804 and was appointed District Court Secretary in Bergen on Rügen . The University of Greifswald appointed him notary and judge. In 1805 he was accepted into the Stralsund city council. His election as mayor followed in 1820. As a member of parliament, he represented Stralsund on the state provincial parliament of the Pomerania province between 1823 and 1843. In 1837 he was eldest of the citizenship.

In 1840 he was awarded the Order of the Red Eagle with Ribbon, which was increased to oak leaves in 1855. Schwing was appointed a secret councilor in 1843 . The Swedish King Oskar I awarded him the title of " Hofrat " in 1853 and the Commander's Cross of the Wasa Order in 1855 . On the Stralsund shipyard Spalding in 1855 in his honor a ship on the name "Mayor swing" was baptized .
