Life

The family provided several councilors and mayors in Thorn, including great-grandfather Daniel Wachschlager . The father was Daniel Wachschlager (around 1679-1724), the mother Catharina Dorothea, née Krahn (1694-1746). The boy attended the city high school . Several funerary orations from this period have survived.

In 1760 Wachschlager became a councilor in Thorn, and later a royal burgrave in the city for a few years. From 1772 Carl Jacob Wachschlager was one of the four mayors of Thorn, including five years president (first mayor). In this function he was also protosolarch (top school overseer). He probably no longer shaped the transition to the German-Prussian administration from 1793.
