Carl Joseph Einwald

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Carl Joseph Einwald (also Karel Joseph Einwald , Carl Joseph Einwaldt and Carl Joseph Einwalt ; * 1669 in Budišov nad Budišovkou , † October 5, 1753 in Olomouc ) was an Austro-Moravian composer and organist of the musical baroque.

Live and act

Carl Joseph Einwald received his musical training in Svaty Kopeček and then studied organ and composition as well as philosophy at the Jesuit school in Olomouc. He also studied in Vienna with the organist Johann Georg Reinhardt , who introduced him to the cathedral music director Johann Joseph Fux . However, it is not certain whether he was also informed by this. In 1715 he became organist at the Hradisko monastery and in 1718 at the St. Mauritius Church in Olomouc, where he worked as an organist and composer until the end of his life. He tried unsuccessfully to get his daughter Valentina Einwald (* 1719) to succeed him as organist in Olomouc.
