Carl Julius Stübel , also Karl Julius Stübel (born March 11, 1802 in Dresden ; † January 6, 1891 ibid) was a royal Saxon secret judge and deputy director of the Dresden district court. He was also a member of the council of the city of Dresden and city judge for 53 years. In 1874 he was made an honorary citizen of Dresden .

Life

Carl Julius Stübel studied law at the University of Leipzig and obtained his doctorate in 1824. jur. He then worked in Dresden as a lawyer. In 1830 Carl Julius Stübel was the last city councilor of Dresden to be elected according to the medieval council order. At the same time, Stübel became a member of the Municipal City Court. For many years he was head of the department for guardianship and inheritance matters at the Royal Saxon District Court, and in this office he was finally appointed to the secret council of justice.

When he retired, Carl Julius Stübel was made an honorary citizen of Dresden on December 31, 1874 for his services in his 53-year council membership and his efforts to promote the city . Highly respected and popular, he died on January 6, 1891 at the age of 88.

Carl Julius Stübel was the father of the later Lord Mayor of Dresden Paul Alfred Stübel (1827–1895).
