Carl Lange (psychologist)
Carl Georg Lange (born December 4, 1834 in Vordingborg , † May 29, 1900 in Copenhagen ) was a Danish psychologist .
Life
At the same time as William James, Carl Lange developed the theory that emotions had purely physiological origins, which is why this theory is called the James Lange theory after its two founders . In contrast to William James, Carl Georg Lange explicitly stated that an expansion of the blood vessels is an emotion. Carl Georg Lange also looked at the psychotropic effects of lithium ( lithium therapy ). However, his research in this area was long forgotten and was later continued independently of Lange's results by John Cade and Mogens Schou .
