Carl Little

Carl Maurice Little (born March 17, 1924 in Campbellton , New Brunswick , † June 2, 2016 in Courtenay , British Columbia ) was a Canadian pianist, organist and radio producer.

Little studied music history and theory with Douglas Clarke at McGill University , and piano from 1946 to 1948 at the Conservatoire de musique du Québec with Isidore Philipp and from 1951 to 1952 in London with Harold Craxton .

He then gave concerts at CBC Halifax and Toronto, toured Canada and was organist in Montreal, Toronto and North Saanich. In 1953 he and his brother George Little founded the Otter Lake Music Center (later Canadian Amateur Musicians / Musiciens amateurs du Canada , CAMMAC), an organization to promote amateur music, of which he was director until his death.

From 1952 he worked for CBC Montreal as a producer; In 1959 he moved to CBC Toronto, where he was director of the English network's music programs from 1972 to 1975 . He then worked as manager of the National Arts Center Orchestra (NACO) until 1978 . In 1980, he and his wife Barbara Wolfond Little founded the Arts Connection gallery in Victoria .

His sister Edna Little (Edna Knock) became known as a music teacher and conductor.
