Life

Carl Otto von Löwenstern came from the Livonian branch of the Baltic German noble family von Löwenstern . Together with his older cousin, the later Saxon-Weimar Councilor Paul Ludwig Johann von Löwenstern (1752-1824), he began studying law at the Georg-August University in Göttingen in 1771 . On September 25, 1772 he became a member of the student order "ZN", which was the social leader in the student society in Göttingen .
