Life

Like his father, Theodori was in the service of Duke Wilhelm in Bavaria (1813 to 1834 as cabinet secretary in Bamberg) and from 1834 in the service of Max Joseph in Bavaria in Munich as a chancellery and secret secretary.

In Banz Monastery , which belonged to his employer Wilhelm in Bavaria from 1813, he began collecting fossils from the Jura there, where he teamed up with the local pastor August Andreas Geyer and regularly spent the summer there in Banz Monastery. With Geyer he founded the paleontological collection at Banz Monastery. He also drew the finds himself, corresponded with specialist scholars and published on paleontology and geology.

He first described the pterosaur Dorygnathus , which he called Ornithocephalus banthensis. He was an honorary doctor (Dr. phil.).
