Carl Victor Page

Carl Victor Page (born April 26, 1938 in Flint ; † June 9, 1996 ) was an American computer science professor. He is the father of Larry Page .

Career

Carl Victor Page was born in Flint, Michigan , to Pauline Aquilla Chipman Page and Carl Davis Page . In 1956 he graduated from Flint Mandeville High as the best of his year. He then studied at the University of Michigan , where he obtained two bachelor's degrees in engineering in 1960, one of which was the first UM graduate in computer technology. The following year he obtained a master's degree in communication studies . In 1965 he received his doctorate in computer science and then taught at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, then he moved to Michigan State University in 1967 . He was a pioneer in computer science and research into artificial intelligence.

Page died at age 58 of a lung infection .
