On March 1, 2006, the microscopy division of Carl Zeiss was merged into Carl Zeiss MicroImaging GmbH based in Jena . On May 1, 2012, Carl Zeiss MicroImaging GmbH was renamed Carl Zeiss Microscopy GmbH. On June 1, 2012, Carl Zeiss NTS GmbH, a manufacturer of electron microscopes, was incorporated into Carl Zeiss Microscopy GmbH.
