Carl d'Ester (conductor)

Carl d'Ester (* 1838 in Vallendar ; † November 2, 1879 in Frankfurt am Main ) was a German music director .

Life

After graduating from high school in Koblenz , Carl d'Ester studied at the Karlsruhe Polytechnic , at the Philosophical Faculty of the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn , the Julius-Maximilians-Universität Würzburg and finally again at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn. In 1857 he became a member of the Corps Franconia Karlsruhe . In 1859 he joined the Corps Rhenania Bonn . After graduating, he embarked on a conducting career and became music director in Frankfurt (Main) . In 1873 he became music director of the Wiesbaden spa orchestra . One of the highlights of his artistic work was the first complete performance of Bach's St. Matthew Passion in 1877, which took place together with the Cäcilienverein Wiesbaden.
