Carl von Holten

Carl von Holten (born July 26, 1899 in Hamburg ; † June 26, 1991 ) was a German diplomat .

biography

After graduating from the Johanneum School of Academics in Hamburg , he studied law at the University of Heidelberg and the University of Hamburg . After passing the two state examinations and the doctorate to Dr. iur. 1925 in the diplomatic service .

After working at the headquarters of the Foreign Office in Berlin and at the embassy in Switzerland , he worked at the Consulate General in Katowice between 1927 and 1937 . In 1937 he moved to Sweden and was initially put on hold and then retired in 1942 .

After the end of the Second World War , between 1945 and 1950 he worked for the Office for German Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Sweden. After returning to Germany, he returned to the diplomatic service in 1950 and was initially employed at the embassy in Denmark until 1955 . He was then consul general in Amsterdam between 1955 and 1959 .

He was last appointed Ambassador to Norway in September 1959 as the successor to Kurt Oppler . After his retirement in 1964, he handed this office over to Heinrich Böx .
