Carl von Tyszka

Carl Alexander Friedrich Ulrich von Tyszka (born October 5, 1873 in Posen , † October 9, 1935 in Hamburg ) was a German financial scientist and professor at the University of Hamburg .

Tyszka was an officer until 1901, and from 1903 he studied political science in Munich and Tübingen. He received his doctorate in 1908 from the University of Tübingen on an economic history topic. In the statistical offices of Berlin, Charlottenburg, Leipzig and finally from 1917 Hamburg he worked as a statistician , from 1926 as a member of the government in the statistical office of Hamburg . From 1918 he was honorary professor at the University of Hamburg, where he completed his habilitation in statistics in 1920 . In 1933 he signed the confession of the German professors about Adolf Hitler , but was retired in 1934 for health and political reasons. An appointment as a non-civil servant associate professor was also not made because of political pressure. Some of his books were burned in 1933. Thereupon von Tyszka renounced the Venia legendi .
