Carlo Aymonino

Carlo Aymonino (born July 18, 1926 in Rome ; † July 3, 2010 ibid) was an Italian architect , urban planner and architectural theorist .

Aymonino was one of the most important Italian post-war architects and urbanists . He is considered a representative of rational architecture in Italy .

Life

Carlo Aymonino studied at the University of Rome . Since 1951 he had his own office in Rome, and from 1951 to 1963 he also taught architecture at the University of Rome. In 1963 he became a lecturer , professor in 1968 and dean of the IUAV architecture school in Venice in 1974 . Since 1980 he has been architecture advisor to the city of Rome. Among other things, he designed the residential area in Gallaratese in Milan and the college in Pesaro .
