Carlo Carretto (born April 2, 1910 in Alessandria ( Piedmont ), † October 4, 1988 in Spello ( Umbria )) was an Italian Catholic writer, little brother of Jesus and a mystic . Studied philosophy in Turin, state examination in philosophy in 1933 (“ laureato ”). 1932 Joined the Catholic Action .

Carretto was President of the Catholic Youth of Italy from 1946 to 1952. On December 8, 1954, the centenary of the proclamation of the dogma of the Immaculate Conception , Carretto retired to El Abiodh in the Algerian Sahara . That year he also joined the Congregation of the Piccoli Fratelli di Charles de Foucauld.

In 1964 he returned to Umbria (Spello), where he founded a prayer and meditation center. Since then he has been in Spello and Africa every six months .
