Live and act

Cazals is in Hamburg-St. Pauli was born and raised. Both his father and grandfather were sailors. In 1967, Cazals began studying painting and music. He studied art history, literature and voice training with the dramaturge and art viewer Gertrud Anna Pirsch . Painting studies took place with Grimm from the Fachkunsthochschule Hamburg, Eduard Bargheer and the sculptor KA Ohrt . The vocal studies took place with Alfred Borchard and Udo Bartels .

In 1970 he received certificates from Leopold Ludwig ( general music director of the Hamburg State Opera) and the pianist Sebastian Peschko (constant accompanist of the opera baritone Heinrich Schlusnus ). In 1975 Cazals went on a training trip to Italy and France, where he also gave several concerts. In the following year he studied in Paris and Munich.

In 1992 Cazals married Inge Karin, who became his manager for concerts and exhibitions from 1995.

From 1984 to 1994 Cazals looked after his teacher Gertrud Pirsch. In 1995 he gave concerts and showed exhibitions in Schleswig-Holstein and Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania as well as concerts at the Volksbühne Berlin , Sleeping Beauty in Nejmegen and Paradiso in Amsterdam . In the following year further concerts and exhibitions in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and in Hamburg in the Barlach Gallery followed. In 1996/97 he sang the role of Guglielmo in the opera Viva la Mamma by Gaetano Donizetti at the Hamburg Chamber Opera . The range of the tenor-baritone bass is 3.5 octaves.

Carlo Cazals developed the style of bizarre irrationalism . Irrational here stands in contradiction to the rational, as cannot be explained with the understanding, and thus also in contradiction to reason. Irrational are facts that are not accessible to the mind, that is, they cannot be explained. But it is precisely an irrational, unencumbered attitude that enables us to gain certain insights that deny us a purely rational approach. "Cazals has been consistently developing the style since 1997 because he has become aware that art needs its own intellectual space, which can be identified beyond the common notion of rationality, an area that many viewers may initially perceive as bizarre." ( Helmut Orpel , art historian and publicist, in Art Profil , 3/2005.)

Since 2002, Cazals has been living in seclusion with his wife in Parchim in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania.

2005 and 2007 published articles about Cazals in the art magazine Art profile and in the new edition Atelier views of artwerk Verlag, Dortmund. His painting techniques are mixed media, pen, pencil and oil. Carlo Cazals has been a member of the Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania Artists' Association in Schwerin since April 2015.

Britta and Carsten Kremke have been managing his work in trust since 2012.
