Carlo Edoardo Lischetti (born October 18, 1946 in Brugg , Switzerland; † November 30, 2005 ) was a Swiss painter, sculptor and action artist (video artist, performer and word juggler).

Life

Carlo E. Lischetti was born in Brugg (AG) as the son of a Swiss woman and an Italian born in Switzerland. After completing his apprenticeship as a decorator in Zurich, he moved to Bern, where he lived with brief interruptions from 1966. In addition to his occasional work as a decorator, he initially ran a “laboratory for applied environmental design” and later the “Lischetti office”. Among other things, he is the inventor of the perpetual calendar, which consists of only one sheet (“Today”). He also sometimes used the “present” to refer to his work: “The past can catch up with us, the future can pick us up, the present cleanses all sides.”

In 1971 Lischetti ran among others with Polo Hofer on list 9 “Härdlütli” for the Bern city council elections and was elected.

Many of Lischetti's projects failed because of conservative objections, such as the “Schacht bei Sempach”, which contained the missing “L”.

No fountain figure

A fountain in the Postgasse in Bern, on which everyone can be a fountain figure. Lischetti opened the factory by climbing up in knight armor and undressing. He called it "disarmament". The objection of the association "Heit Sorg zu Bärn" against his fountain sculpture had no consequences. Since then this fountain in Postgasse has been popularly known as the “Lischetti Fountain”. The official name is Kronenbrunnen . It is also known as the “Speakers Corner of Bern”.

Dancing bear

At the Bärengraben in Bern there was a parallel work of art with the dancing street wipers. Lischetti wanted to place this in place of the bear once a year. He wanted to honor the anonymous street sweepers who ensure clean streets especially during the Zibelemärit .
