Carlos Antônio Bettencourt Bueno (born March 10, 1934 east of the Río Uruguay ) is a former Brazilian diplomat .

Life

Carlos Antônio Bettencourt Bueno studied at the Colégios San Inácio and San José of the Society of Jesus , 1957 law at the Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro , English at Stanford University . Completed the Cursos de Preparação à Car-reira de Diplomata and Aperfeiçoamen-to de Diplomatas of the Rio Branco Institute . Attended a Curso da Escola Superior de Guerra .

In 1958 he was accepted into the foreign service as third-class legation secretary and in 1961 promoted to second-class legation secretary in recognition of his performance. From 1960 to 1962 he was Legation Secretary at the United Nations Office in Geneva . From 1962 to 1967 he was the legation secretary at the UN headquarters . From 1964 to 1967 he was a delegate to the Conferência para a Desnuclearização da América Latina in Mexico City , which agreed the Treaty of Tlatelolco on February 14, 1967 . From 1967 to 1969 he was the secretary of the embassy in Buenos Aires . From 1969 to 1971 he was the secretary of the embassy in Warsaw . From 1973 to 1976 he headed the Asia department. From 1976 to 1982 he headed the Brazilian delegation to the Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space at UN Headquarters, a body whose preparatory committee he chaired from 1981 to 1982. From 1983 to 1986 he was ambassador to Panama City . From 1986 to 1991 he was ambassador to Tokyo and attended Hirohito's funeral . From 1991 to 1996 he was ambassador to Prague and took part in the funeral of Czechoslovakia . From January 30, 1996 to June 30, 1998 he was Ambassador to Dublin .
