Carlos Galván (musician)
Carlos Galván (actually Juan Carlos Mostowyk ; born May 22, 1940 in Tigre ; † August 1, 2014 ) was an Argentine bandoneonist and tango musician.
Galván grew up in the Mataderos district of Buenos Aires. He had bandoneon lessons from the age of seven and performed as a professional musician at the age of fourteen. In 1958 he became a member of Los Cuatro para el Tango , with which he made several recordings. From 1965 to 1968 he accompanied the singer Argentino Ledesma as a member of Jorge Dragone's orchestra . From 1971 to 1974 he accompanied the singer Hugo del Carril , in 1976 he played the musician Aníbal Troilo in the film Los chicos crecen .
From 1980 he worked as the conductor of an orchestra with the singer Enrique Dumas for twenty years . In addition, he has accompanied singers such as Floreal Ruiz , Alberto Marino , Edmundo Rivero , Miguel Montero , Roberto Goyeneche , Virginia Luque , Roberto Rufino , Jorge Valdez , María de la Fuente , Néstor Fabián , Hugo Marcel and María Graña . Since 1987 he was engaged in the Casablanca in San Telmo , where he accompanied the singers performing there. He was also the musical director of a radio series moderated by Silvio Soldán .
In 1992 Galván appeared at the Exposición Universal de Sevilla with Beba Bidart . The following year he went on a concert tour through the Caribbean with Juan Carlos Granelli and María José Mentana . As musical director and conductor, he participated in the television program La noche con amigos . In 1998 he recorded the CD Simplemente Luisito with the singer Luis Cardei . In 2003 he toured Japan with his orchestra and Enrique Dumas. In 2005 he accompanied the singer Patricia Torre with a quintet on the CD Nostalgia de tango .
