Carlos Llamosa (born June 30, 1969 in Palmira , Colombia ) is a retired American football player .

career

Llamosa was an athletic, tech-savvy defender who began his career in 1990 with Atlético Huila club in Colombia . In 1991 he emigrated to the USA and initially worked in the World Trade Center . In 1995, the New York Centaurs became his first club in North America. The club, which was playing in the A-League at the time, called itself New York Fever in its second season.

In 1997 he moved to Major League Soccer, founded a year earlier, and played for DC United (1997-2000), Miami Fusion (2001) and New England Revolution (2002-2005). From 2006 to 2007 he played with CD Chivas USA in Los Angeles, after which he ended his playing career.

In November 1998 he made his first international match against Australia. Between 1998 and 2002 he played 29 times for the US national team . In 1999 he was in the starting line -up in the USA's 3-0 victory over Germany and also played at the 2002 World Cup in Japan / South Korea .

From 2008 he was an assistant coach at Chivas USA. Since 2013 he has been active in the same position for New York Cosmos .
