The city lounge in St. Gallen combines the formerly rugged Bleicheli district into a homogeneous whole.
The Kurhaus Oberwaid takes up the Taukreuz and pays tribute to the long-standing commitment of the Baldegger sisters who ran the Kurhaus before the new building.

Carlos Martinez Architects is a predominantly Swiss-wide and internationally active architecture office based in Berneck and Rorschach .

history

Carlos Martinez Architects was founded in Widnau in 1993 - at that time still under the name Koeppel Martinez. Carlos Martinez has been running the office under his name since 2003. In 2009 the studio relocated to Berneck. Two years later the office was expanded to include another branch in Rorschach.

Since it was founded, the office has implemented over 100 projects. The focus is on residential construction, hotel construction, urban repairs as well as exhibition and corporate architecture. The most famous projects include the St. Gallen City Lounge (together with Pipilotti Rist ), the Hotel Säntispark of the Migros Ostschweiz cooperative , the Kurhaus Oberwaid , the Secli Weinwelt and the NAVE bedroom .

Carlos Martinez was born in Widnau in 1967. After training as a structural draftsman, he studied architecture from 1988 to 1992 at the evening technical college in St. Gallen, which he successfully completed. He has been a member of the Swiss Werkbund since 1993 and an expert on architecture for the Federal Art Commission since 2002 . In 2007 he was visiting professor at the chair for urban development at the Technical University of Munich .
