The nature reserve Kranzbach and Kranzbruchvenn (NSG identification ACK-085) is located on the western edge of Simmerath . It is around 32.8 hectares and was designated in 2002 with the Simmerath landscape plan. The area includes the upper and middle reaches of the Kranzbach and surrounding areas.
Parts of the nature reserve are located in the larger FFH area DE-5303-302 Kalltal and side valleys , which means that the corresponding areas belong to the European Natura 2000 network of protected areas . In the north, the NSG Oberes Kalltal connects with tributaries , in which the lower course of the Kranzbach is also located. In the west, in the municipality of Monschau, the NSG borders Brückborn / Kranzbruch .
Area description
The Kranzbach is a tributary of the Kall . The Kranzbruchvenn forms a network of biotopes across the upper Kall valley to the Venn plateau . Value is placed on swamps and reeds , moors , dwarf shrub, gorse , juniper heaths , nebulas, wet and humid grassland, near-natural and undeveloped stream sections, swamp forests and swamp forests.
In the nature reserve a section of which is Western Wall - dragon's teeth get. This crosses the area and dams two eastern source streams of the Kranzbach. A narrow hiking trail runs on one side of the hump line.
Flora and fauna
Tree species found in the area include alder , aspen , ear willow and gray willow . The habitat for plant species on the red list such as lung gentian and leg breaker is to be preserved .
The beaver has settled here; You can also find the great mouse-eared mouse and the pond bat . The nature reserve is also intended to help provide a habitat for the kingfisher , as well as the whinchat .
